Lots of shops across the UK have schemes in place that recycle your old disposable devices. These programmes are sustainable, cost-efficient solutions that operate in a similar fashion to the battery collection stations that you often see when you are in large commercial shopping spaces. Vape shops often have recycling vessels set up for everyone to dispose of their old single-use vape kits. These are taken to qualified recycling depots that accordingly break down these devices. Each component of the device will be accordingly salvaged and processed in the following ways:

Casing – Disposable vape cases are typically made of either plastic, glass or metal. All these materials can be effortlessly recycled.

Heating element – Coils are a part of the vape device that ignites vape liquid to create vapour. These are made of a metal wire and wicking material that soaks up the e-liquid. Lost Mary coils (and most other coils in legitimate vape devices) are removable and recyclable. The inner non-recyclable cotton, mesh, or wicking material must be removed before the raw metallic materials can be broken down. It must also be completely cleaned from any e-liquid and nicotine residue.

Microprocessor & LED units – These are commonly sought-after components that are widely recyclable. The metal inside these units can be readily processed and the gold electrical conduction material can be recycled in an excess of ways that benefit new tech development across the manufacturing sector.

Lithium-ION batteries – The logistics of recycling these sorts of batteries have been in place for some time and will not be dissimilar to the current scheme set up by our waste collection company. This recycling scheme will accordingly extract these internal batteries and process them accordingly.

Vape mouthpieces – These are commonly made from widely recycled plastic that can be readily processed.

This advice really goes for any other sort of disposable device. You should not break down any disposable because the battery can malfunction, could leak hazardous liquid, and in extreme cases, the device could combust if the heating element is tampered with by those who are not knowledgeable of the internal electronics. The sorts of batteries fitted to disposable devices cannot be recharged by design like most ion batteries. These batteries come pre-charged for the ease of the user. Essentially, when the battery is dead, you should recycle the pre-filled vape device right away.

Batteries of any kind are toxic. They are not supposed to be mixed with other waste products because their chemicals destroy the protective layer around landfills. By trying to disable your disposable, you’re putting your own self and others around you at risk.

Similarly, some dangerous content out there shows you can refill the device with vape juice & other e-liquid. Removing the mouthpiece should not be attempted because it's intentionally fitted to be seamless against the shell of each brand-new disposable vape, so you could injure yourself doing so. When most people do this they also often block the airflow when they reattached it to the device. This should be avoided because you will be reusing an old coil, which will eventually deliver a burnt hit with a burning smell - both of which are extremely unpleasant. Plus, you will never get close to as full a flavour as you would with a new, legitimate product.
